Overview

We our looking for a Montessori Lead Teacher who can create a nurturing, stimulating and welcoming environment in our one classroom school. Additionally, the ideal candidate is knowledgeable and experienced in the Montessori curriculum and enthusiast for its pedagogy.

Montessori Teacher Responsibilities:

Observe, guide, supervise, and assess children while they learn in the classroom environment.

Develop lesson plans, independent learning exercises, curricula, and methods cater to the individual child’s needs.

Create and maintain a safe, clean, stimulating classroom where all children feel safe and valued.

Set an excellent example for students and instilling good values like honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness.

Create and engage in ongoing forms of communication with families regarding their child’s social, emotional, and academic learning.

Prepare and schedule 2-3 individual communications with all parents during the year (parent conferences, parent visitations, etc.)

Monitor and assess student progress and write up daily reports.

Complete Kindergarten Report Cards at the end of the school year.

Ensure classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working condition.

Update records on the school database and handle various other administrative tasks.

Participate in school activities and accompany students on field trips.

Interview and assist with the training of all new teachers.

Lead the classroom teaching team and delegate as appropriate to assistant teachers, subs, and/or interns

Engage in ongoing professional development

Conduct and/or attend staff meetings and other school events outside of school time as listed in the Employment Agreement.

COVID Contingency: COVID contingency/Distance learning expectation- Should the school be forced to close the school building due to Covid-19, it intends to remain open and will provide virtual learning opportunities. The Lead Teacher should expect to implement distance learning plans following school-wide procedures.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or experience commensurate with a B.A.

Primary Montessori training from an accredited AMS/AMI training center OR in their last year of Montessori training (self-directed internship)

An ability to teach groups of children of varying ages, needs, and abilities

The ability to multitask, keep calm under pressure, and treat everyone with love and respect

Exhibit excellent classroom management skills

Demonstrate creative and collaborative problem solving and critical thinking

Excellent planning and organizational skills
