Overview

We are in search of adaptable, hard-working individuals to support the growth of our program this spring and summer. All Children’s House Assistant positions are considered full-time and eligible for benefits, including fee caps for dependents and ample paid time away from work. Consistent schedules will become available across the 30 to 40 hour/week range this spring and summer; all shifts will be between 7:15 AM to 6:15 PM, Monday through Friday, and include an unpaid break period of 30 to 45 minutes. Job responsibilities may include: making and maintaining Montessori materials; modeling and supporting children in caring for the Children’s House (including light cleaning, dish washing, and laundry); supervising children engaged in independent and small group work; helping children prepare and serve snacks; supervising children during time outside; supporting children through lunch and nap routines; leading select small group activities; and engaging in attendance and/or record keeping.

Please note that Children’s House Assistants will not engage in Montessori lessons, lesson planning, or other similar teaching roles. No previous experience with Montessori is required to work as a Children’s House Assistant at CMC.

About CMC

Community Montessori Columbus is a nonprofit child care center about to enter our second full year of operation. Our mission is to provide affordable, fully-implemented Montessori education and child care to an intentionally diverse group of families in ways that promote social and environmental responsibility. Our unique sliding scale fees, partnership with the state in offering subsidized child care to low-income families, and location in a mid-century church near the crossroads of many diverse neighborhoods have come together to make us highly accessible to many families.
