Who We Are
Lexington Friends Preschool is a small, non-profit preschool in north Lexington serving ages 16 months to 6 years old. We are currently accepting resumes for part-time and full-time teacher’s assistants in both our toddler (16 month to 3 years) and our Primary (3-6 years) classrooms.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking individuals interested in working with young children in a loving, supportive environment. Responsibilities include: assisting the teacher with the planned curriculum, supervising outdoor activities in all weather, monitoring lunch time and rest time, helping to maintain an attractive and joyful environment, and helping clean the classroom at the end of the day. Applicants will exhibit enthusiasm in all dealings with students, as well as in his or her own growth as an individual. Candidates should be familiar with, or eager to learn more about, Montessori philosophy and other child development topics (including but not limited to: positive discipline approaches, project-based learning, anti-bias/anti-racist education, etc.). At LFP, we are respectful of each child’s pursuit of independence, and their unique talents and inner timelines. We are also respectful of one another. We are a small staff, so the ideal employee would be self-motivated, responsible, and get along well with others. Most importantly, the candidate must be caring and compassionate, with a love for children.
* Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional education preferred.
* Previous child care experience required. Montessori experience preferred.
* Strong observation, verbal, and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
* Must be willing to take training, including First Aid/CPR and all required Continued Education courses throughout the school year.
* Must be kind, respectful, and professional.

Our program is inspired by the philosophy and curriculum of Dr. Maria Montessori. We are proud of our relationship with Lexington Friends Meeting (Quakers). The shared values gained from this association helps guide us in our business practices and our work with children; however, we are not a religious school.
