About Moore Montessori Community School
At Moore Montessori Community School (MMCS), we believe every child is capable of building a strong academic foundation, dynamic social-emotional skills, and a trust in his or her own abilities. The goal is to prepare our students for lives of joy and purpose in the 21st century.
As a public charter school, MMCS is able to implement an authentic Montessori education model within a public setting. We are building on Dr. Angeline Lillard’s recent seminal study proving that Montessori equalizes and elevates academic and social-emotional outcomes for children from various socioeconomic backgrounds.
MMCS is the first and only public Montessori school in the region. Located in Southern Pines, North Carolina, MMCS fosters a diverse school community. Analysis of local data shows that zip codes predict academic achievement, a trend we seek to challenge.
