Overview

The Cornerstone School in Stratham, NH seeks a Substitute Teacher for a full time maternity leave position in one of our Primary classrooms. Cornerstone’s classroms have co-lead teachers, and as such, the candidate for this position would be working with an experienced, credentialed Montessori teacher to support and guide the learning of 20 children ages 3-6 years.

While Montessori training or expereience is preferred, it is not required for this position. Candidates should be familiar with whole child education and child centered learning which are at the core of Montessori philosophy and pedagogy.  A candidate unfamiliar with Montessori would be supported in growing their understanding of Montessori education.  This would be an excellent opportunity for someone currently in training to become a Montessori teacher.  Successful candidates will be flexible and collaborative team members who demonstrate an ability to relate sensitively to people of all ages and backgrounds; above all they will possess a deep and abiding love and respect for children.

Availability Monday-Friday from the hours of 8:00-4:00 (with some flexibility on start and end times) from January 2022 through June 2022. Ideally, the successful candidate would be able to come and shadow the current teaching team during the months of November and December (compensated) to learn the rhythm of the classroom.

While this is a temporary maternity leave position, there is the possibility to continue working with Cornerstone as a substitute teacher for the 22-23 academic year, for our Summer programming during July and August, or other employment opportunities as they arise for those interested.  Hourly rate is commensurate with experience.
