Lilliputian Montessori School is looking for an Assistant Teacher for our Toddler Room and someone to help in our After Care program. Our Toddler classroom has children 18-36 months and our Aftercare program has children 12months-6years. Lilliputian Montessori School is a school that has been serving families in the Mount Washington Valley for over 30 years and is looking to expand while finding the right candidate to join our team. The ideal candidate will be available from 8:00-5:00, be passionate about teaching, eager to learn about the Montessori method, and have a interest in the outdoors(we spend a lot of time outside). This position is school year only but the right candidate has potential to stay on with us for summer programing.
Be able to pass all State and Federal Background checks.
A minimum 9 credits in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education Required with 3 of them in Child Growth and Development
Dedication to the practice of the Montessori educational philosophy; understanding of, and willingness to passionately promote, the Lilliputian Montessori School mission, identity, spirit, and character. Montessori background preferred but not required.
Exceptional people skills; good interpersonal ability; capacity to build and maintain close relationships and engender trust
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Specific responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Working collaboratively with classroom Lead
Reporting to the Lead Teacher and Director needs of students and classroom.
Maintaining continuing education requirements as set forth by the State of New Hampshire
Collaboration with teaching staff and Director to implement age-appropriate lessons and activities.
Communication with parents/caregivers regarding their child’s daily activities
Being mindful of the specific needs of families and the regulations we operate under to ensure safety at all times
Following school protocol as outlined by LMS, DHHS, and the CDC.
Assisting the Lead Teachers in preparing an environment (both indoors and outdoors) in which the furnishings and materials are complete and correspond to the needs of the group.
Maintaining a clean, orderly, and attractive Montessori environment
Helping to ensure the care and maintenance of classroom materials and equipment
Assisting the Lead Teachers in creating an environment that demonstrates rapport with, respect and kindness for, all students as well as between students; the Assistant Teacher models and teaches conflict resolution and problem solving strategies in the classroom
Promptly report discipline concerns beyond typical classroom strategies to the Lead Teacher
Responsibility for the safety of the children left in his/her charge until dismissed to a responsible adult
