The University of Delaware Montessori Teacher Residency (UDMTR) is seeking a full time Elementary Program Manager.   UDMTR’s mission is to meet the unique needs of contemporary Montessori programs and to support the expansion of accessible Montessori education by providing a high-quality school-wide and practice-based Montessori teacher preparation programs and professional development.   This is an exciting opportunity to impact the future of Montessori education in the region through the preparation of the Montessori adults who work with children.  This position requires Montessori elementary credentials.

Under the limited direction of the UDMTR Director, the UDMTR Elementary Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that the curriculum, instruction, and coaching components of the program meet and exceed the expectations of the program’s accrediting agency, the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE), as well as the expectations of our partner schools and residents.  The manager brings their Montessori training and experience to provide leadership and direction to the part-time coaches, to maintain strong relationships with school partners, and to support the UDMTR residents.  In partnership with the UDMTR Director, the Level Manager will design, develop and implement a variety of professional development opportunities for Montessori teachers and schools as an extension of services to be provided by the UDMTR.  The person in this position is knowledgeable about adult learning, the latest trends in Montessori teacher preparation, and is a creative, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial individual who assists the Director in the expansion of the UDMTR as a premier program supporting existing and future contemporary Montessori Schools.

About University of Delaware

The University of Delaware Division of Professional and Continuing Studies (UD PCS) launched the University of Delaware Montessori Teacher Residency (UDMTR) in the winter of 2020 to support the growing need for Montessori teachers in regional public schools. UDMTR partners with Montessori schools who wish to recruit and train new teachers by providing intensive coaching and instruction over the course of a two-year teacher residency program. With the support of the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector (NCMPS) the program launched the first cohort of residents for elementary classrooms in the summer of 2020 and is currently launching the second cohort in the summer of 2021. The program expects to launch a Montessori Early Childhood program in the summer of 2022.
