every child in an inspirational and equitable individualized learning journey. The Social
Emotional Learning Support Counselor is an integral member of the Diverse Learning
Community support team and partners with classroom teachers and DLC support specialists to
monitor the academic, behavioral, and social/emotional growth of students at Willow Oak. The
Social Emotional Learning Counselor is the link between the school, community and families.
The SEL Counselor will work to build and deepen a positive school climate and culture by
training students on how to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel
and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible
decisions. Additionally, the SEL Counselor will center their work on the five core competencies:
Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationships Skills, and Responsible
Willow Oak Montessori resides on a newly built campus in quaint and quickly growing Pittsboro, NC. Each of our learning environments has direct access to an outdoor classroom extension. We are a combined private Children’s House and Public Charter School that serves approximately 300 students, 3 years old through 8th grade. Willow Oak Montessori has several upcoming positions for the 2022-23 School Year. Ideal candidates will be seasoned professionals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, willing to partner with parents and collaborate with a dedicated educational team to provide a nurturing authentic Montessori program for students.
Appropriate Montessori Certifications required for all lead guide positions. North Carolina Teaching Licenses or the willingness to complete the residency license process are also desired. We will consider all applicants, with particular regard for those who have experienced oppression, discrimination, or other adversity in their lives who are willing to bring insights from those experiences to our team.
